Learning Opportunities

American Counseling Association (counseling.org). Offers courses with titles such as “Counseling Competencies: Improving College and Career Readiness for LGBTQ Youth.”

Apple Inc.’s iTunes U (Available through the Apple Podcast App). Apple Inc.’s iTunes U offers a platform where anyone can offer courses through the iTunes store. Prestigious names such as the Yale Entrepreneurial Institute and Oxford University offer lectures free, many of them compiled from sessions that took place at the schools.

Coursera (coursera.org). Offers a wide range of online courses, many of which are modified versions of in-person offerings by 33 university partners, including Brown, Stanford, and Princeton. CreativeLIVE, Inc. (creativelive.com). Classes—such as Launching an Online Business and the Right Brain Business Plan—are taught by professors, marketing experts, and business authors. It’s free to watch them live, but viewing them later runs $100 to $200. If you watch live, you can also communicate with other users and ask questions.

EdX (edx.org). Free courses designed specifically for the Web by Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, among others. The courses, which can be watched anytime, include topics such as software coding and copyright law.

Marketing Seminar (themarketingseminar.com/). Seth Godin is a marketing expert and this seminar promises to teach, “how to enroll, engage and transform the people we seek to serve.”
